Picking Process Improvement
Indoor Tracking to Optimise Picking Process
Skoda assembly line is daily supplied by components from an extensive logistics supermarket having a capacity thousands of types of car components. Working process in logistics supermarket combines finding, picking and putting a correct component in the right order to the stand-by trolleys.
The long-term strategy of Skoda is to optimize logistics processes to ensure faster, more effective and importantly a perfectly flawless picking process.
RTLS and smart glasses used for smart logistics
In Skoda are currently using various types of Pick-by systems combining visual or voice navigation, but they are still testing and developing new possibilities for overall improvement. Thanks to Skoda internal approach, their logistics coordinators keep searching for new solutions by integrating and testing modern technologies. One of revolutionizing projects realized in Skoda is Pick-by-Vision pilot project. The Pick-by-Vision project combines smart glasses providing to user faster navigation and easier asset tracking transmitted by augmented reality. The project was realized by the Polish company specialized in smart logistics solutions which developed a new prototype of smart glasses. Sewio Real-time Location System has been integrated into the solution by attaching a mobile tag to smart glasses for providing precise real-time location data for navigation purposes.
We realized a project Pick-by-Vision consisting of the implementation of augmented reality via smart glasses in order to optimize the picking process in the Škoda intralogistics center. For the navigation purposes, we integrated location platform powered by Sewio. The key benefits of Sewio platform are mostly the easy installation and adaptive application.
