From March 29-31, Sewio was in Atlanta, Georgia for Modex 2022, the premier supply chain event. In addition to over 850 exhibits, the event showcased the latest and greatest technologies that are shaping the future of the industry. As a provider of UWB-enabled real-time location systems (RTLS), Sewio was a natural contributor at the event.

Modex 2022 is a vital event for supply and manufacturing companies that want to stay on top of industry trends. That made it the perfect platform to explain to attendees why ultra-wideband (UWB) is the next big thing in general, but especially for the industry. UWB is already quickly gaining recognition for its technological advantages thanks to companies such as Samsung, Apple, and Land Rover implementing it in their products.

“With increased consumer awareness, I believe that in the next 3-5 years every warehouse and manufacturing facility will operate with UWB services,” explained Milan Simek, CEO at Sewio. “Just 10 years ago, Wi-Fi was nice for businesses to have but it quickly became a must-have for every daily operation. I see the same for UWB.”

Intralogistics is always looking to streamline processes, which can clearly be seen in the past technological trend of picker systems (i.e. pick-by-light or pick-by-voice systems). UWB takes it a step further. With the ability to automate the process thanks to precise location tracking, UWB can reduce the number of labor hours, boost efficiency, and even increase safety. For example, Sewio is partnered with Elokon and PowerFleet, two fleet management system providers. As a result of our integrations, entire fleets of forklifts can be outfitted with tracking tags to improve the visibility of daily operations which helps identify potential accidents and prevent them.

Sewio wasn’t the only one advocating for UWB technology at Modex. Three of our partners, Quarion Technology Inc., Portable Intelligence Inc., and one of our most recent international partners, SICK, were also exhibiting at the event where they presented their integration with Sewio’s RTLS. Attendees had the opportunity to view our partners’ demos which showed the integration of Sewio technology with their respective solutions. In addition, four other partners attended Modex and took advantage of Sewio’s presence to discuss our continued partnership and strengthen our relationships.

International intralogistics events are invaluable for advancing the future of the industry’s technology. If you’d like to meet us at one and discuss how UWB can improve your operations, you can find us at LogiMAT 2022. We look forward to seeing you there!
