RTLS Studio 3.5: Enhanced UX for Large-Scale Installations

RTLS Studio Sensmap now provides a better UX and clearer overview of the whole shop floor.

If you need to keep track of 1000+ assets in an area the size of an airport building, you know the struggle: zoom out to see the whole site, and it’s just a pile of labels on top of each other. But with RTLS Studio 3.5, we’ve changed that.

RTLS Studio Sensmap in now smarter:

• Smaller pins
• Shorter labels (just your asset’s name)
• Inactive assets go smaller in a zoomed-out view
• Smooth movements around the map

Now, assets don’t overlap or block each other. You can zoom out and see everything clearly. And don’t worry about losing details. Each asset still has its exact position and name. Whether your indoor car park is as big as a football field or your factory floor is packed with materials, this update makes everything easier to follow. No more zooming in and out to figure out where everything is!

A new algorithm offers a more stable and accurate positioning of assets with tags in less-than-ideal placements.

In manufacturing, work-in-progress containers often fit exactly within marked zones on the floor, and if the RTLS tag is placed on the edge or side of the container, it can appear to “jump” between zones on the Sensmap, even though the container is still within the same zone. However, just because the tag isn’t in the middle doesn’t mean it shouldn’t work well.

Our last update, RTLS Studio 3.4, already improved the situation by better calculating the location of inactive tags. Now, RTLS Studio 3.5 refines the tags’ positioning even more. It smooths out false, off-center tag positions and eliminates incorrect data. You can choose how strong the effect should be. Imagine adjusting the focus on a telescope—that’s exactly how it feels!

Why it matters:

This improvement makes your system more accurate, even when tags are not ideally placed. Whether your tag is right in the middle or off to the side, you’ll see its exact position every time. And if your inactive tags are getting woken up by vibrations or movement around, they’ll stay stable in the system.

It’s now faster to back up your system before you need to make a change.

We all know it: the system needs to be backed up before making a change and it takes forever to finish. That’s why with RTLS Studio 3.5, backups are faster and take up less space.

Our test shows that a back-up (without historical data) that used to take 102 seconds now takes just 22. And instead of 395 MB, it’s only 92 MB. That’s a 78% speed increase and 77% smaller file size! With this improvement, you can make changes to your system without waiting so long for the backup to catch up. It’s much faster and lighter.

Pairing App Now on Desktop

Pairing assets with RTLS tags is something users do every day. Now, you can do it directly from your desktop. No need to rely on a mobile app on the shop floor.

This update makes life easier for companies that pair tags in bulk. Whether you’re on the shop floor or at your office desk, you can get the job done without running around the production hall.

Trackables Update Without the Wait

Changes to Trackables used to mean waiting for the right moment to make updates—anything that could cause downtime needs to be approached with caution. But with RTLS Studio 3.5, those updates can happen anytime without interrupting your workflow. Add a new language, update an app, or tweak your settings. You can keep moving without pausing for updates.

Add More Info to Trackables

Now you can add extra information (properties) to your Trackables. You can record who paired the asset, when it was paired, or what steps it needs to go through. These extra properties help you manage your assets better, and they can trigger automatic alerts if something’s missed in the workflow.
