Snorrastofa Museum (Reykholt)

Immersive Multimedia Guide powered by Real-time Location System

Snorrastofa is a cultural and medieval center in Reykholt, Iceland. Reykholt is an important historical site and was home to one of the most remarkable Icelanders of all time: historian, scholar and chieftain Snorri Sturluson. Snorri lived in Reykholt from 1206 until his death in 1241 and his works; Heimskringla, Edda and Egil’s Saga are of great importance for the history of Northern Europe, and through the centuries have become a source of inspiration to art and literature worldwide.

UWB RTLS for triggering multimedia content

Locatify created Android and iOS multimedia guides for the museum. The apps use GPS outdoors, and Sewio’s UWB RTLS indoors for triggering multimedia content relative to a guests location. Guests are provided a UWB tracking tag and their position is communicated to the app via the RTLS Studio and the Locatify Creator CMS. As guests approach specific exhibits or locations, audio and additional information such as videos and images are delivered via the app.
